“Love Of My Life…"
As the clock ticks down to an imminent start of production we can reveal further casting of a major figure in the Bohemian Rhapsody story : Lucy Boynton is to play Freddie Mercury’s lifelong companion Mary Austin, for whom Freddie reputedly wrote ‘ Love of my Life’. Lucy joins Rami Malek (Freddie Mercury), Gwilym Lee (Brian May), Ben Hardy (Roger Taylor) and Joe Mazzello (John Deacon) in making up the core cast of the forthcoming movie, which is set for a December 2018 release. (See Brian May's photo of the 'Bo Rhap Boys' below!)
Lucy has enjoyed a variety of roles across Film and TV since 2006 and has recently been confirmed as the Countess Andrenyi in the new Kenneth Branagh directed interpretation of Murder On The Orient Express, starring alongside Johnny Depp, Judi Dench, Willem Dafoe and Daisy Ridley. "Good Company” indeed.
In further news, we learn that Allen Leech (Downton Abbey) has also been confirmed as taking the role of Freddie’s ‘personal’ manager, Paul Prenter.
We also caught up with Peter ‘Phoebe’ Freestone, the man who was Freddie’s personal assistant for over a decade who offered a fascinating insight into his advisory role in the film. We have mentioned the detail that the movie makers are going to on this production before, but to hear it first hand from Phoebe concerning the level of fact-checking they have engaged in was mind-blowing, but in a great way.
However, our favourite movie related story to come our way this week has to be the dog walking Queen fan who claimed he had found the original Live Aid Stage in the middle of the Hertfordshire countryside, 32 years after the event…
