Queen Day In Spring I 2025 - In aid of The Mercury Phoenix Trust

Cherry blossoms in full bloom.

This year, QUEEN DAY IN SPRING I, organized by the rock music site MUSIC LIFE CLUB, was held at Nihonbashi Mitsui Hall on Saturday, April 6th to celebrate Queen's 50th anniversary of arriving in Japan.

Queen landed in Japan for the first time on April 17, 1975, at Haneda Airport, a date that has become the most important day for Japanese Queen fans. The date has also been officially certificated QUEEN DAY as Memorial Day in Japan.

This is a very meaningful year for Japanese Queen fans, due to the 50th anniversary of Queen's arrival and their fourth album 'A Night At The Opera', plus the 10th anniversary of QUEEN DAY, which first took place in 2015 in Tokyo.

The event consisted of two parts; in the first part, Takayuki Ishizumi (Queen historian) and Satoshi Yoshida (Shinko Music / Music Life Club) talked about the recording story of the 'A Night At The Opera' album and the second, Queen tribute band GUEEN giving a superb performance of all songs the same album paying their sincere hommage to Freddie, Brian, Roger and John's music.

The whole audience fully enjoyed both the talk and live performance and provided enormous applause to the hosts and performers.

QUEEN DAY IN SPRING II, with Peter Freestone, will be held on April 27th at Hulic Hall in Tokyo.

Donations raised from both the April 6th and 27th events will be made to The Mercury Phoenix Trust.
