"I had the privilege to play a substantial role in The Freddie Mercury Tribute show in April 1992 at Wembley Stadium. SAS Band guitarist, Jamie Moses was also on that show, accompanying Bob Geldof. From that memorable evening sprang The Mercury Phoenix Trust; specifically founded to fight the spread of HIV /AIDS. Even though the threat may have diminished since those dark days, which took the lives of so many people unnecessarily, the fight is not over. The threat of HIV/AIDS is regaining strength and is once more gaining ground especially in the age group of young males. Thanks to the wonderful research and development of AIDS foundations worldwide, HIV/AIDS is no longer an instant death threat. The drugs that have been developed now allow sufferers to control the virus and live fulfilling lives."
"The SAS Band is proud to be “doing its bit” and we will all be well aware of what is at stake when we gather for our work. The Mercury Phoenix Trust is as vital today as it was 27 years ago and we must all do what we can to promote and sustain the cause, for us it is a star-studded show on September 14th at The O2 Shepherd’s Bush Empire."
"Please come and join us for what will be an unforgettable evening and bring your friends too. There is nothing more satisfying than supporting a worthwhile cause AND having the most fun possible… and both at the same time!"
Cheers,
